USPC Riding Center
Pony Tail Acres is proud to participate in The United States Pony Club Riding Center program for riders who don’t own their own horse. Riding Center members have all the same benefits and educational opportunities as regular pony club members, but are not required to own or lease a horse for regular mounted meetings, ratings, regional events, and rallies.
Riding Centers are required to offer instruction in line with the Pony Club mission to teach children how to ride on the flat, over fences, and in the open, and also care of the horses and facility. Pony Tail Acres Riding Center begins each lesson student with the Pony Club values, and continues their education along the way with the same ideas.
In Pony Club, members compete at a Rally on a team. It’s one of the few opportunities where a rider can compete on a team and be judged as a team. A Rally not only judges the way a rider rides, but also how they manage their barn area. Teams consist of 3-4 riders and horses, and a Stable Manager. The stable manager is the member who is in charge of how the barn area is run. They are the person who keeps things running smoothly for a team and makes sure that the riders are staying “on task”. Teams are given a Horse Management score and an Overall score. Good riding isn’t the end all be all of Pony Club, sometimes our rides don’t always go the way we had intended, and Pony Club recognizes that, so good horse management can still help a team land in the placings by keeping everything in their barn area running smoothly.
Our Riding Center member have participated in regional rallies and clinics as well as center certifications and mounted meetings. If you are interested in joining our Pony Club Riding Center contact Dawn (dawn@ponytailacres.org) for more information.
